On one hand, the drnsho fashion of Koto Ryu would indicate something of a Xing yi origin, although Xing yi itself is steeped in legend and the exact origin of that art are also unknown.
However, you should not forget that the Koto Ryu is also a system in itself, independent from the Gyokko Ryu, with unique ways of moving. But in a Catch, those people tend to belong to a Takamatsuden gyokok so you have to account for their bias. What I am looking for is about “non-Takamatsuden Ryu-ha”, I mean: It’s up to you to make conclusions from there.
Koto Ryu is a hard natured discipline, so it gyookko requires conditioning and tough training. Any information before Takamatsu? Are this stories true?
