The scenarios and details that Ms. Miss Moore treats the crisis as though it were no more serious than a cup of spilt tea on an expensive rug. I LOVED the fact that Max and Olivia are allowed to fall in love over an extended period and that they don’t actually start their relationship off by physical contact but spend some serious time together.

The entire Donovan family is taking on a mad, cruel man bent on ruining Olivia just because it will hurt Max.

They call her the Queen of the Outcasts. Welcome to Night Vale: I now have another book to add to my vacation reading next week the first book in the series to see if I can understand the characters any better because I was left with a number of questions that I think can only be answered from the first story.

Will men never learn? If the middle and last part of the book were like this as well, I would have definitely given this one 5 stars and more!

Don’t let yourself be put off by them if you find yourself annoyed like I was, because Secrets of an Accidental Duchess turned out to be a lovely story! I was pulled in from the beginning,with Max being unable to take his eyes off of Olivia because of the reserved way she held herself.

This was a slightly dark story with a sinister villain. I’m aware that my generation nor that the one of my parents’—or their parents’—invented sex, but to read about sisters—one of which is an unmarried virgin—talk about contraception sounded too modern to fit the time to me. His brow furrowed, and he leaned closer to her, the concern deepening on his face. He lifted one shoulder in a shrug, but a smile teased at the corners of his lips.

The romances described in the book are wonderful, and Max and Olivia are a perfectly matched pair. Fenwicke was a married man who thought himself above the rules of society.

He said she was ice cold. The way she was beginning to think about Max was utterly scandalous and improper. For me I was a bit surprised at that because in the first sentences I really thought he was going to be a rakish devil, instead he wasn’t that at all!

I think what really spiced up this story was the simply dreadful villain, Fenwicke. Olivia was a rather unique heroine. Of course I wanted to shake her until she came to her senses but then I’d od been no better than her husband. When they reached the spring, Max shrugged out of his coat and spread it across the large flat rock. The problem was the extensive character gallery I was expected to familiarise myself with immediately.

Cause it got so much better after the first couple of chapters!

Feb 03, Lisarenee rated it really liked it. I really liked Secrets of an Accidental Duchess and I’ve already added the other 2 books in the series to my to-read list, the excerpts at the end of this one were SO interesting I just decrets to get my hands on the other two!
